PRD ANNUAL MEETING – HOLD THE DATE- August 28
The PRD annual meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at 6:30 PM at the Town of West Bend town hall on Highway Z.  This year there will be one PRD board seat up for election. We have indications that long-time PRD commissioner Mike Burns, who has held that seat, will be retiring. In anticipation of his retirement, there are two announced candidates for that position, Kevin Leitner and Dave Baldus.

As with last year, we anticipate this will be a spirited and important election. The POA will be providing background bios on both candidates in subsequent communications as we learn more. If you feel strongly on Lake issues, we encourage you to attend the annual meeting to make your voice heard, and vote in the election for this Board seat.

PRD SURVEY
The Big Cedar PRD has completed the tabulation of results from the recent survey.   The survey facilitated resident input on issues such as management of the public launch, lake activity, pier/slip rental.  At the Aug 6, PRD meeting it was announced the results would be sent out in the PRD August newsletter.  It will be mailed on or about August 14.  There was considerable interest in this survey, and we are anxious to see the results.

FISHING
I understanding fishing this year has been good, perhaps not great.  Late spring affected water temperature and fish feeding pattern.  Pike and bass are most common.  A least one fisherman reported good luck night fishing for walleye.

 WEEDS
The PRD reports weed growth seems to be down this year.  The amount of weed “harvest” by weed cutters is considerably less than in previous years.  Some of us are enjoying the benefit of very few weeds drifting and collecting onshore.

LAKE USE WHITE PAPER
A white paper prepared by Bruce Reynolds has been posted on our website.  This is not a POA document but rather an independent work by Bruce.  The paper documents lake use and management by seven lakes in Wisconsin that are similar to Big Cedar.

Wake Boats

The Big Cedar POA understands the Protection and Rehabilitation District has jurisdiction and responsibility to protect and preserve Big Cedar.  We encourage the PRD to take appropriate action to protect the lake from potential harm from unresponsible enhanced wake boat operation.

The link below is a presentation given to the PRD in January that gives information about enhanced wake operation.
