BIG CEDAR LAKE
PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION
October 1, 2019 – Newsletter
This is the third of the POA monthly newsletters. It is our intention to send a monthly newsletter for the months of May through October. We may send one or two newsletters over the winter, but no schedule has yet been determined. If you missed one of the old newsletters you can find them posted on our website.
Gray, cool, damp days suddenly change the feel of the lake. Another summer is winding down, and time to put toys in storage. Hard not to be a little sad. Were we cheated? Summer started so late, how could it be over already.
Aquatic Invasive Species – Report
Two of our Big Cedar Lake POA directors attended an informational seminar on September 19th, on aquatic invasive species in Waukesha and Washington counties. The information presented was primarily about the starry stonewort that has been found in several lakes. It is especially troubling that several attempts by the DNR have failed to eradicate the invasive green algae.
The presentation from the seminar has been posted on our website. The link below can be used to view it.
Big Cedar History – Personal Account Depression to 1945
Joe Diedrich wrote a lengthy account of his days as a young man on Big Cedar Lake. It covers a period up to 1945. It is an interesting historical record of life on the lake at that time, complete with pictures from that era.
The document has been posted on our website. The link below can be used to view the document from Joe.
